Cut Energy Costs

Carefully positioning trees and shrubs shelters your house from the sun and wind and can reduce heating and cooling costs.

Live in a condo? Vines, grasses and small shrubs grown in window boxes or on a balcony can achieve similar cooling effects.
Evergreen trees are natural windbreaks.
Deciduous trees on the south and west side of your home provides summer shade, and allows sunshine through the winter.
Areas shaded by trees can be as much as 14°c cooler than nearby air.
Shading your air conditioner with trees or shrubs keeps it cool so it uses less energy.
